Numbers 14:20-23 states, “Then the Lord said, ‘I have pardoned them, according to your word. But truly, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD, none of the men who have seen my glory and my signs that I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and yet have put me to the test these ten times and have not obeyed my voice, shall see the land that I swore to give to their fathers. And none of those who despised me shall see it.” Even though this scripture talks about how people disobeyed the Lord, in fact God was testing their hearts to shape a unique kind of faith. Through the lack of water and bread, to disobedience to His commandments and instructions we see a people more interested in following man than getting to know who God really is. God is testing their hearts as He did with king David later on to see what course of action they would take. Complete lack sometimes comes to test our hearts so that we can show complete trust to God. Over time, test after test, creates the character needed for the anointing and faith to conquer the giants in the land. There is no true inward rulership of God without a test, and there is no true outward rulership of God without the necessary training of trials and tribulations. Only that gives the necessary perspective to do God’s will God’s way.
